The sole purpose of the City Rescue Mission is to alleviate hunger, homelessness, and help the less fortunate people in our community by providing sandwiches, snacks, and prepared meals three times a day, seven days a week. We also supply large food boxes for families who have been given referrals from government agencies and local churches. We also distributePersonal hygiene kits ,clothing from our community clothes closet, donated furniture, as well as DMV referrals so the homeless and needy can obtain North Carolina I.D. cards for free. Donated items are given out at no cost to the homeless and less fortunate. The rescue mission also offers various shelter programs and in addition, we receive mail for homeless .
Our program includes over night facilities for up to 6 females, shelter to transients from homeless to independent living, and becoming a contributing member of our community. The shelter program includes bed and bath facilities, bed linen, and three meals a day. Residents along with staff work together at the mission to help the needy and homeless as well as outside the mission by receiving, packaging, and distribution of donation from our community, businesses, and our churches in our local area. The City Rescue Mission was established in 1974 to alleviate hunger and to assist the homeless and needy. We at the CITY RESCUE MISSION still carry on this tradition today.
